If you are a US Citizen…

AND a Dependent (US Military, Civilian, DoD Contractor)

 

YES

 

And are NOT a Dependent…

You must have:

·         US Tourist Passport

·         UK Visa (not obtained in conjunction with anyone else) OR UK or NATO country Passport (Dual citizens)

·         Documentation showing you are not ordinarily resident

YES

If you are NOT a US Citizen…

AND a Dependent (US Military, Civilian, DoD Contractor)…

AND a citizen of a NATO country

YES

 

AND a Dependent (US Military, Civilian, DoD Contractor)…

And are NOT a citizen of a NATO country

NO

 

AND a Dependent (US Military, Civilian, DoD Contractor)…

And are a UK citizen

NO

 

And have NO affiliation to the base

 

NO

 

* Dependent: Spouse or family member of Active Duty military member, DoD Civilian, DoD Contractor, or Career Program NAF employee.  If a Dependent child, must be under 21 years of age UNLESS they are enrolled in school full-time in which case they must be under 23 years of age.

 

* Ordinarily Resident: A person becomes ordinarily resident when they have lived in the UK without base affiliation (Dependent status, employment on base paid in USD) for 366 days or more.  Time spent in the UK as a member of the US Visiting Forces or as a US Government employee or as a dependent of either does not count toward becoming ordinarily resident.  In addition, time spent in the UK as an employee (or dependent of an employee) of a US agency serving with and supporting the US Visiting Forces does not count towards becoming ordinarily resident.  Such agencies include the American Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or a U.S. Government contractor.

If you are a US Citizen…

AND a Military Dependent…

You MUST have:

·         No-Fee Passport

·         PSC Orders or Amended Orders

 

AND a Civilian or DoD Contractor Dependent…

You MUST have:

·         Passport

·         UK Visa

·         Official Orders or other documentation proving you are a Dependent here officially

 

And are NOT a Dependent...

You MUST have:

·         US Tourist Passport

·         UK Visa (not obtained in conjunction with anyone else) OR UK or NATO country Passport (Dual citizens)

·         Documentation showing you are not ordinarily resident

If you are NOT a US Citizen, but a Citizen of a NATO country (aside from the UK)…

AND a Military Dependent…

You MUST have:

·         No-Fee Passport

·         PSC Orders or Amended Orders

·         A U.S. SSN

 

AND a DoD Civilian or Contractor Dependent…

You MUST have:

·         Passport

·         UK Visa

·         Official Orders or other documentation proving you are a Dependent here officially

·         A U.S. SSN

 

 *** Due to current background requirements, you must meet the 3 year US residency requirement. OPM is unable to actually complete a full investigation based on overseas locations.
